Most businesses can benefit from the speed and convenience of dedicated Internet connectivity. It provides an easy and fast way to give groups of users access to the Internet without the cost and maintinance of multiple modems and telephone lines. It also provides options for greater speed and flexibility for your users. In most cases, the cost is less than having multiple individual accounts, and everyone can benefit from the increased speed. Dedicated connections include routable IP addresses up to a full class C (more if needed), 24x7 monitoring, and pager access to support engineers. The connections are available in the following configurations.
Dedicated Dial-up
A 24x7 analog modem connection, perfect for home offices or small workgroups of 5 or less. This option is scaleable by adding a second modem and phone line to double your throughput.
Dedicated ISDN
ISDN offers 64K or 128K connectivity for small and medium size businesses and small web hosting applications. Using ISDN Centrex service, we offer a flat-rate monthly telephone charge, as opposed to per-minute ISDN charges with normal ISDN dial-up accounts.
56K DDS
A dedicated digital 56/64K circuit. More reliable than ISDN, and the monthly costs are similar. This circuit is not scaleable.
Frame Relay
Frame relay can be used to deliver Internet service outside of our local area, and we can provide frame relay Internet access via an existing frame network in many cases, which keeps your costs down.
T1 and fractional T1
T1 and fractional T1 services are the preferred connection for larger businesses and web hosting services. These circuits offer solid, stable connections at speeds from 64K to 1.5 megabits/sec. In some cases, your existing phone services can be integrated with your Internet data, providing a cost savings to your business. See out Telecommunications Services for more information.
DSL
DSL technology allows high speed access at a cost much less than traditional T1 services. It is currently available in all areas served by Verizon, as well as nationally using networks provided by Covad. DSL connections are available for single-user business connections, and multi-user LAN connections.
Note: Dedicated dial-up and ISDN connections are available from our Virginia network only at this time. If you are looking for dedicated connectivity outside of Virginia, consider DSL which is available in a variety of speeds and locations, T1, or frame relay.
